Okay so you can’t stand the idea of one more morning on that treadmill…trust me I know how you feel! I have to get very creative with getting my cardio in or I am sure I would come up with a million excuses. I love nature so I take every opportunity I can to go mountain biking, hiking, and basically anything I can do outside to get a good workout in. Doing this also gives me the opportunity to involve the family. Me, my son Kendrick, and my dog Ziggy (and sometimes on a good day Jackie) all love hitting the trails. Check out my short video on me and Kendrick mountain biking at the National White Water Center. If you have not checked out this place located in Charlotte then you are missing out. Go now to http://www.personaltrainersincharlotte.com/personal-trainers-in-charlotte-news-article-3.html and read further on how I give tips to Lancaster SC residents on how to break up the monotony of the treadmill.

Hi guys I spent all weekend training with Jeff Martone from Tactical Training who is one of the first certified senior Kettlebell instructors in the United States. Jeff is one of the best in Kettlebell instructors in the industry. I learned lots of KB exercises and new techniquesto help maximize your workouts and burn some serious amounts of body fat. Trust me when I say that I got my butt kicked this past weekend. By Sunday evening I had completed over 2000 reps with a kettlebell.
So what is kettleball training? Glad you asked.
Kettlebells are cannonballs with a handle and a flat surface at bottom. They’re funny looking little things. Originally from Russia, the kettlebell was used by Russian athletes (or girevik’s, as they’re called in Russia) to create resistance and train with. What initially started off as a simple tool to increase a mans (or woman’s!) strength was found to be something more. Not only was strength increasing, so was endurance, agility and balance too. The effect of the kettlebells weight distribution combined with specialized kettlebell exercises yielded greater results than expected!
Kettlebell training is taking over the fitness world. I am so excited to incorporate this into my business and offer it to all of my Charlotte health and fitness family. All I can say is if you thought I kicked your butt before….you haven’t seen nothing yet! If you are not part of the Healing Strength Personal Training family go now to www.personaltrainersincharlotte.com and register for your free consultation
So CWBC as well as to 1-0n-1 clients get ready for take off!

I am proud to announce to you all that I am now a NGA Natural Pro Bodybuilder. This past weekend I competed in the 2010 NGA Heart of America Classic. I can’t begin to tell you the journey that it has been during the past 6 months. Running my own business as a personal trainer here in Charlotte requires many long hours. I knew when I signed up to do this show it was going to be the hardest one so far. When people tell you that your body changes when you get older, TRUST ME it does!! My body did not respond as it normally had for previous shows.
When I commit my mind to do something I do it 100%. I remember when it snowed a few months ago and I was so exhausted. I thought about using the excuse that I couldn’t go to the gym because there was snow on the ground. However, I reminded myself that my competitor was probably sitting at home. I walked to the gym that day through the snow and all to do my cardio. Many days I was strictly running off of faith and nothing else. Every time I would even think about slacking off I thought of my good friend Larry. I trained Larry a few years ago for his first bodybuilding show. Larry stands out to me because his job required him to work so many swing shift hours. Larry kept on while never giving up. I told myself if Larry didn’t find any excuses to give up then neither would I.
Initially I competed for my division in the video and then I went on to compete for overall and I won!!! Did you get that?? I won the ENTIRE show while beating out 71 competitors. WOW!!! It was an overwhelming range of feelings. I feel so blessed.
It’s so important to me to lead by example. I have to be a role model and inspiration to you all. I am truly not a trainer talking the talk but you better believe I am walking the walk as well. Take a moment and read more about me and other successes I have had in my career at www.personaltrainersincharlotte.com
