Happy Holidays!

Everyone here at Healing Strength Personal Training wants to wish you guys a very Happy Holidays. Below is my son doing a Thanksgiving day work out. He was really pumped up about getting this out to you guys so that everyone can see how hard he trains. So please do not hesitate to leave him a comment. O-yea by the way we hit the gym early that Thanksgiving day morning. He really wanted to train so I thought what the heck we both could use the workout given the fact that we had four homes to visit and eat hardy. LOL… Enjoy!

The Pro Motivational Talk For Rucker Middle School Students

In the clip below I talk to the male students at A. R. Rucker Middle School about nutrition and the basic fundamentals of building the body for athletic performance.   A. R. Rucker Middle School is located in my home town of Lancaster, SC. This talk was originally set for me and one of my good friends and training partner, former NFL Pro Football player Antico Dalton. Unfortunately, he came down with a little bug the night before and was not able to make it out. However, we were able to get him on the phone to give a few inspiring words to the youngsters who have dreams and goals of playing professional football one day. Towards the end of the clip Antico gives them some very good advice about sacrifice, which is very much needed in the world of body building and professional football.  Also, the two gentlemen you see standing up front with me won a free day of mentoring and fun with me and Antico. We call it “A day with the Pros.” We will bring them up to the center and give them a tour of the facility along with going through a quick pro workout full of tips on how to become a better athlete.  O-yea I forgot to mention they will get a free lunch on us as well. Stay tuned and follow our blog. We plan to put a brief clip up of them training with us both. In the mean time check out the clip below.

Michelle Obama is committed to our children's future

First lady is hula-hooping her way to health

First lady is hula-hooping her way to health

Can I say WOW!!!  Thank God health and wellness is a priority with our president and his family.  Michelle Obama and the Department of Agriculture hosted a Healthy Kids Fair on the lawn of the White House yesterday.   Their goal is to have more schools committ to offering nutritional foods and removing the junk food.  I am always surprised when my son buys cookies and ice cream at school.  It infuriated me when his mom told me he was in the “negative” with his account.  Wouldn’t you know that when we look at his account he was buying several packs of cookies and all sorts of junk food.  We put a lock on his account immediatley.  I was frustrated that we try so hard at home to provide him with nutritional meals, yet he could go to school and load up on junk food.

I really could relate to  Mrs. Obama’s story when she shared how things were for her growing up.  My mom didn’t offer us fast food much because just like Mrs. Obama’s parents, she simply couldn’t afford it.  If we asked for food then we ate what we asked for.  We were all active as we didn’t have video games or cable TV to keep us preoccupied.

1 in 3 children are obese and overweight.  Did you get that????  If you think it’s  a problem now just wait until the next 5 or 10 years.  Medical experts are now predicting that the next generation will have a shorter life span as a result.  So far 635 elementary schools across America have committed to throwing out the junk food and offering more nutrional meals.  They hope to have middle and high schools join them.

If you’re overwhelmed with how to integrate proper nutrion and exercise into your family go to www.healingcharlotte.com and schedule your free, no obligation consult today and get started!  Remember, if you want to be successful at teaching your children about nutrition and health then you must start with yourself first.  Until next time, Train Hard and Eat Healthy!
